Kineforum Misbar was a temporary open-air cinema built in Monas as part of the 2013 Jakarta Biennale for Kineforum, a non-profit organization promoting art-house and independent movies. The cinema was named Misbar in reference to the inexpensive, traditional Indonesian open-air cinemas, which are now nearly extinct in Jakarta.
The rectangular volume constructed using rented scaffolding featured a curtain facade made from agricultural netting and a plywood bench running along the perimeter. Besides the cinema, it contained a generous foyer space in an attempt to bring back the social aspect to cinema going.
