The competition entry for the Masai Mara Conservation Centre draws inspiration from the spatial qualities of Maasai villages, featuring loosely positioned buildings and boundary walls creating an informal courtyard. The two new buildings, one housing visitor amenities, the other an exhibition space and cafe, are positioned to frame the views of the plain ahead. Both structures are lightweight timber, designed to minimise environmental impact with deep roof overhangs, verandahs, and solar panels, promoting natural ventilation and sustainability.
